The goal of the achievement society

What is the goal of the achievement society? More achievement. Whoever follows this entirely senselss aim will end up living in an entirely senseless society.

Comparison with the Guiness Book of Records

To give a drastic example of the goal of the achievement society, let us compare it with the Guiness Book of Records. What is the goal of the Guiness Book of Records? New records of course! Does the question come up here as to whether these records are useful, whether they advance humanity? No, it's purely about breaking records.

But no one is forced to read the Guiness Book of Records, no one is forced to break records. It is entertainment and it is voluntary. But the achievement society has developed a whole lot of perfidious methods to force everybody to achieve more.

To complete the comparison, does anyone ask whether the added achievement forced by the achievement society is useful or advances humanity? No it is just about more achievement. Questioning this is even fiercely opposed by the achievement society through propaganda and other measures.

Aimless society

The achievement society gives people goals which are completely meaningless. Achieve more, achieve even more, it's still not enough, extra achievement is required. What for? The compulsion to achieve is forced on society, it is a society without goals that is being ever more destroyed by this pressure to achieve.

Politics - political targets of PEGE
