3 times higher investment costs compared to a nuclear power plant
If a nuclear power plant is already not cheap and is suspected of being cross-subsidized, the situation is even worse with fusion power plants. Investment costs are expected to be up to 3 times higher. It is currently estimated that a 1000 MW nuclear power plant will cost EUR 2 billion to build.

Complete replacement of the interior walls every 2 years
The inner walls are protected from the hot plasma by magnetic fields. However, they are not protected from the fast neutrons produced during the fusion of deuterium and tritium. If the construction is financed with a loan over 30 years at 3% interest, then it is already 15 cents per kWh. How is a fusion power plant supposed to be economically viable?
